virtual memory is reserved hard disk space, this space is used when the computers memory gets full it puts data into the virtual memory space on the hard drive If the virtual memory gets full then it causes memory problems and the computer slows down dramatically to a crawl In simple terms always keep about 4 gigabytes of free space on the hard drive,

Downloaded photos or videos do not slow down your memory (“RAM”) at all just stored on your hard drive. What does slow down your computer is not using your system tools like de-fragmenting. The only thing you can use to free up memory is to go to your run/search bar and type MSCONFIG then go to “start up” tab and uncheck anything you don’t need constantly running from the background. After a reboot you’ll be told you are using selective start up, just check not to show anymore and you’ll be running faster than before. Please make sure you don’t mess with any other Tabs in the MSCONFIG window besides start up unless you are familiar with the utility.

You can change your virtual memory settings to have more of it very easy. Click start or windows icon lower left of screen, then control panel, then system, advanced system settings, performance, advanced, virtual memory change, custom size, 4000 to 8000, set, ok. There now you have more virtual memory.
