what is the name of the java executable that opens jar files?

I’m assuming its in the bin. I’m trying to use Dr java but cant compile because the sdk java version is 1.4.2 and the jar file opens with 1.5.0, so it won’t let me because the versions don’t match.

I can’t install the 1.5 sdk because the computer that I’m using (at school) takes way too long because it scans it with mcaffee virus shield.

I cant get textpad to work because the classpath is all messed up…for some reason the sdk isn’t installed in the Java folder under program files so everything is just messed up. Incompetent people running these computers. I’ve tried changing the enviroment variables, use -classpath . in textpad, etc.

So I’m assuming if I open the Drjava file with the sdk Java version, it will use that version and ignore the other java installation.

Ive been screwing around with this for a long time.

When I open a file it opens with notepad how do I change that?

Every time I try to open a file from the internet, like notes from a teacher or something like that, it opens into notepad with the rectangles and such. How do I change what program the documents are opened with?

I can’t figure it out. When I check “always use this program” in the “Open With…” menu of a certain item, it only uses that program to open THAT SPECIFIC file, and not all the files with the same extension.

I used to open attachments now my pc goes through the virus check, opens file box and nothiing else happens?

click to open attachments/documents, virus box checked allow, open box come up and runs the program but nothings opens up after that.I just completed a form that went through the motions but the file was not loaded any where. I didn’t have this problem at first, I’ve just had this PC about a month.

Using W98, Ive seen the dialogue box a million times, but if I’ve already chosen an opening program, (incorrectly) it has that icon and there’s no “open with” choice when you right-click on the file itself.
It is a zip file, and i’ve never needed winzip or anything in the past, however, i recently went from Walmart/Netscape (which had it’s own unzipper) to Quest DSL, maybe i havent downloaded a .zip since then. I associated it to Wall/Net and then WallNet said it could only make it a text file. Do I need winzip or whatever to open zip files now?
