How do I link my deleted items folder in outlook express to delete files? My file gets deleted and then gone?

I have uncheck the checkboxes in my options that sais on exit purge deleted mail, but when I delete a file from my inbox it does’nt end up in my deleted items folder or trash folder, can anybody help me please. Thank you
