In this video I share with consumers important information about how file sharing software is enabling hackers and identity thieves from stealing people’s financial records and identities. Consumers BEWARE and Be Aware of what file sharing programs there might be running on your computer. And, if you are a parent who has children living in your home, you want to find out what file sharing software they are using and what security measures the provider has to protect you from having your identity stolen.

Whats up “ol’ skool’R?” Just to so you know, and set your info straight. File sharing has little to do with it. You just need to know what is safe to download because what you think is your song you wanted, can end up being software to spy on you to steal your information. So it’s not don’t share or D/L. It’s know what your doing and use firewalls and anti-malware programs.

create a public key. Say it as a text file.. And put it on your memory stick. A public key is a random set of letters and numbers that become your password. Heres an example of a public key password…”leldjgojfofjojeoj2343greofgf5444gg3rjewewerjerqwcxxo4324kjk”

    More than enough…

The only thing that some unscrupulous person could obtain from file sharing is an IP address. An IP address can only identify a person if the ISP tells them.

Only way this could happen is if the file downloaded contained malware ie. a data miner or key logger etc. The actual file sharing process will not lead to id theft, its what you downloaded you got to worry about.

Great video! But the parents of that child should have been monitering them a litte more. You can use file sharing software. You just don’t share your files so that way they can not get into your computer files.

Thank you for posting this. You’ve inspired me to do one of my own, this one about the dangers of online gaming.

If I don’t do it tonight, I’ll post it tomorrow.

I’m a little concerned for myself, but then again, someone wouldn’t be able to get a pack of gum on my credit, so the joke’s on them! :p

Wow, I wonder if they can still steal your information if you don’t share files and just download? Since it’s the sharing, i.e. uploading of files to another user who is downloading them, that is what’s illegal anyway. So I do not allow my files to be shared. I’ve tried to warn my mom about this too, but her husband thinks he knows everything and he shares files.
